CAMDEN – It can be hard to get a pet to sit just right for that holiday greeting card. Paws Animal Adoption Center helped to make that easier on Saturday, November 17, by taking pet portraits.

Amelia Qualters volunteers her time to shoot the pet photographs.

“I did this before a few months ago,” she said. “We actually adopted a couple of dogs here ourselves, so I thought this would be a great opportunity. I do photography as a hobby and this is something I wanted to do.”

Qualters said she particularly likes pet photography.

“I love working with dogs and animals,” she said. “That would be my specialty, I guess you could say.”

Shelly Butler, executive director of PAWS Animal Adoption Center, said it was a way to spread some holiday cheer and help raise some money for the shelter.

“Amelia is here and she has props for all the animals whether it be cats or dogs,” she said. “Everyone who comes in will get to take a portrait of their pet home and she donates a portion of the proceeds back to the shelter.”

November 29, at the Samoset Resort the shelter will hold it annual Auction for Animals.

“It’s our biggest event of the year and a major fund raiser for us,” Butler said. “It’s underwritten by Maine Chevy dealers and Fuller Chevrolet and we are very grateful for that partnership.”

There will be a silent auction, a live auction and an online auction.
