    Grammy-winning Paul Sullivan has enjoyed a richly varied and distinguished career as a composer and pianist. As a soloist, with his trio, and as a member of the Paul Winter Consort, he has performed in most of the United States as well as Europe, the Middle East, Central America and Asia. On Saturday, Dec. 3, he travels to the stage at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House for the first in a series of holiday concerts at the historic venue.

    Sullivan has worked in some of New York’s most prestigious jazz clubs, and his 18 CDs have sold over 300,000 copies, winning three Indie Awards. His music is broadcast internationally in addition to on all the major American networks.

    In the theater world he has worked as musical director, pianist and/or conductor for many Broadway and off-Broadway shows. He has received commissions to write musicals including “The Last Ferryman,” and he has worked extensively in the modern dance world including writing music for Radio City’s Rockettes. Sullivan has written 20 scores for the Pilobolus Dance Theater and he has even done a 3-year stint as the music teacher at the Brooklin, Maine elementary school. When asked, Paul Sullivan says, “I’ve had a long, lovely and lucky career which shows no signs of stopping.”

    At the Opera House he will be joined by Marisa Solomon on cello and Elizabeth Downing on flute. Marisa is a member of the Bangor Symphony and is on the faculty at UMaine Orono. She has performed at Kneisel Hall, Aspen Music Festival, Spoleto USA and Spoleto, Italy and at the Breckenridge Music Festival in Colorado. Flutist Elizabeth Downing is a soloist, chamber musician and on the faculty at the University of Maine.

The box office is open Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Regular tickets are $30 and available online at boothbayoperahouse.com and on the day of the performance at the door. The concert is at 7:30 p.m., doors for seating open at 7 p.m.
