‘Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.’

Opening art reception for ‘Form Follows Function’

CAMDEN — Page Gallery's new show, Form Follows Function, is a group exhibition that bridges the gap between functional objects and fine art. Function may be the goal of each object, but the beauty of the form is still at the front of each artist's mind, according to the Gallery, in a news release.

Opening reception for ‘Form Follows Function’ will be Thursday, October 10, from 5 - 7 p.m.

The show includes original book illustrations by Chris Van Dusen and Siri Beckman, hand-forged knives by Ben Breda, wood stools by Timo Foster, a hand-painted folding screen by Anneli Skaar, ceramic, glass and bronze vessels, and more.

Craftsmanship and artistic expression are key to each of these functional pieces. As Frank Lloyd Wright said, “Form follows function – that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.”

Artists on display:

Siri Beckman, Ben Breda, Kate Dannessa, Chris Van Dusen, Meghan Flynn, Timo Foster, J.T. Gibson, David Jacobson, Colin Page, Anneli Skaar, Simon van der Ven, Tom Weis.
