An online homebuyer education class is being offered by MaineStream Finance, a Penquis subsidiary, through the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, in Belfast. This one day class is being held online, Saturday, Apr. 10, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and the fee is $30.
A first-time homebuyer education class is required for some mortgages, such as Maine Housing, and may give qualified buyers access to funding towards down payment and closing costs. A certificate of completion allows access to special loan programs through MSHA, FHA and VA and is valid for two years. The class will provide homebuyers more confidence when asking questions and making decisions about homeownership and closing costs.
In order to increase access to this opportunity, the UMaine Hutchinson Center is providing free internet and computer access to people who wouldn’t be able to attend this class otherwise.
This online, interactive 8-hour homebuyer education class is taught by industry professionals (lenders, home inspectors, real estate agents) in an educational, non-sales oriented environment. Homebuyer education classes provide an opportunity to learn about the home buying process in a neutral environment.
For more information about this and other homebuyer education classes, please visit MaineStream Finance’s website.
Participants who need access to the internet or a computer may contact the Hutchinson Center online to reserve a spot.
