CAMDEN — The downtown Camden Opera House presents One Night In Memphis, Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The show is inspired by the night of Dec. 4, 1956, when Sun Records Studios had Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley together for a magical rock ‘n’ roll jam.
Like the special moment it celebrates, One Night in Memphis is a one-night-only event. No-fee tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day-of-show at camdenoperahouse.com; by calling 236-3154; or at the Town Office weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The evening features Alex Swindle, a National Grand Champion and Ultimate Elvis Top Ten World Finalist from Alabama; Blair Carman, the only tribute performer personally invited to play at Jerry Lee Lewis’; 75th birthday party at the Killer’s Louisiana home; Neil Morrow, whose vocal range covers Roy Orbison in addition to this show’s Johnny Cash; and John Mueller who fills out the Million Dollar Quartet as Carl Perkins.
Drama Desk Award-winner for starring in The Buddy Holly Story, Mueller created One Night In Memphis in 2012. It features more than 90 minutes of pure rockabilly, country, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll in an authentic and energetic presentation by nationally known talent.
