a place to grab a snack while walking by; an available source for food and care products after hours

Official opening of Little Food Pantry to take place in Rockland

ROCKLAND — On Sunday, October 2, at 12 p.m., in front of the First Universalist Church in Rockland, the Little Free Food Pantry, located outside the church, will be introduced.

“A Little Food Pantry (LFP) resembles the popular little libraries, in that it is located in an accessible place and available for self-service at all hours,” said the Church, in a news release.

Instead of books, the LFP has an assortment of foods and personal care products available for anyone at any time.
These community-sustained LFPs provide a convenient place to grab a snack while walking by or an available source for food and care products after hours. Take what you need, give what you can – this is the system that supports the LFP: if folks place supplies in the pantry when they can, there will always be food and supplies available for when they’re needed.
The First Universalist Church of Rockland invites all community members to help them officially welcome the Little Free Food Pantry to the neighborhood. There will be a bake sale to support the LFP as well as the church’s other food ministries.

“We also invite you to bring non-perishable foods and bathroom items to help fill the Little Food Pantry,” said the Church.
