SEARSPORT — Carver Memorial Library has announced upcoming events and closures for October 2020.

    Union Hall Book Club

Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. Location: Union Hall, upstairs at the Searsport Town Office, 1 Union Street. There is an elevator available. Masks and physical distancing required. This month we are discussing Abbott’s Reach by Ardeana Hamlin.

    Reading Plays Together: Harlowe

Wednesday, October 14, at 5:30 p.m. Union Hall, upstairs at the Town Office. Masks and physical distancing required. There is an elevator available.

Cold Comfort Theater’s Maggie Goscinski will lead the group in reading Harlowe by Jennifer Lane. All are welcome to join together and listen or read aloud new plays--no performance or theater experience required. Come and revel in some new stories with us! Free and open to the public.

Harlowe by Jennifer Lane: After suffering a potent physical trauma, Harlowe loses her sense of touch. When her sister brings her home to convalesce, she retreats to the bathroom and spends hour after hour languishing in the tub. Harlowe is a story of sisters and bodies; it is a story of how we heal.

Closed for furnace installation, Monday to Friday, 10/26-10/30. We will miss you, but we are happy to have a new, efficient furnace! If the installation finishes early, we will reopen when we can.

Curbside service only for Voting Day, Tuesday, 11/3 Curbside service will be available during our regular hours (10-1, 2-6). The building will be closed to the public because our plexiglas barriers are shared with the polling place and will be used there that day. Polling is at the Lions Club building, Prospect Street, 8am to 8pm. Go vote!
