Oceanside wrestling finishes 10th at MCI event

PITTSFIELD — The Oceanside wrestling team hit the road Saturday, Dec. 28 to compete in the Maine Central Institute Husky Winter Classic in Pittsfield. 

By the end of the competition, the Mariners had secured 10th place with 55 points. 

Placing for Oceanside were Carter Fogarty (first), Bennett Penney (first) and Matt Spear (third). 

Below are the complete results for Oceanside wrestlers. 

120 pounds: Carter Fogarty pinned Nate Solorzano (Erskine Academy), won by forfeit against Travis Hutchinson (Bucksport) and defeated Ahmad Ahmad (Cony). 

138 pounds: Seth Spear pinned Nicholas Carrera (Madison), pinned by Connor McNish (Morse) and lost to Emma Fonger (Mount View). 

145 pounds: Josh Jackomino pinned by Mason Rowe (Mount Blue). 

160 pounds: Bennett Penney pinned Jethro Pease (Medomak Valley), pinned Bristol Leahy (Oxford Hills) and defeated Ben Brewer (Morse). 

195 pounds: Matt Spear lost to John Howard (Mount Blue), pinned Bryce Bussell (Maine Central Institute), defeated Isaak Peavey (Erskine Academy) and defeated John Howard (Mount Blue). 

220 pounds: Kaleb Blackwell pinned by Mohammad Aljendi (Cony) and lost by majority decision to Cameron Rich (Bucksport).
