Oceanside field hockey slips past Lincoln Academy

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside field hockey team hosted Lincoln Academy on Thursday, Sept. 27 and were able to secure a 2-1 victory. 

With the win, the Mariners improve to 2-7 on the season. 

Oceanside’s next game will come Saturday, Sept. 29 when they travel to Mount View for a 10:30 a.m. match. 

Oceanside was able to get on the board at the 3:16 mark in the opening half thanks to an Erin Stevenson goal, which came courtesy an Emma Young assist. 

Oceanside extended its advantage to 2-0 on an Amanda Frost goal at the 13:20 mark of the second half. Frost was assisted by Audrey Young on a penalty corner. 

Lincoln Academy scored its lone goal on a Brittini Hartley penalty corner at the 1:18 mark of the second half. 

Both teams posted four corners, while Oceanside had five shots compared to Lincoln’s three. 

Oceanside’s Alexa Barstow had two saves in the goalie net, while Lincoln’s Jenna Leeman had three.
