Oceanside field hockey blanked by Winslow, Nokomis

WINSLOW and ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity field hockey team was shutout in its latest pair of games. 

The Mariners traveled Thursday, Sept. 12 to Winslow where the visitors were downed 4-0. 

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Mariners hosted Nokomis, who blanked the hosts 6-0. 

Oceanside will host Gardiner for its next match Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m.

 

Winslow 4, Oceanside 0

Winslow’s four goals were scored in the second half by Silver Cluckey (assisted by Bohdi Littlefield, 27:27),  Littlefield (assisted by Savanah Joller, 26:45), Littlefield (assisted by Cluckey, 11:57) and Littlefield (unassisted, 5:05). 

Winslow recorded 18 corners, while Oceanside did not record any. 

Winslow tallied 26 shots, while Oceanside recorded one. 

Alexa Barstow had 20 saves as goalie and Audrey Young had two defensive saves. 

The Winslow goalie (name unavailable) had one save on one shot. 

 

Nokomis 6, Oceanside 0

Nokomis scored its first goal in the opening half when Lauren Anderson scored on a corner at the 18:12 mark. 

Goals in the second period came courtesy Madison Hatin-Burtt (unassisted, 29:13), Burtt (assisted by Anderson, 16:16), Lauren Burke (penalty stroke, 8:26), Madison Hook (unassisted, 6:41) and Hannah Bradley (unassisted, 2:48). 

Nokomis recorded five corners, compared to Oceanside’s five. 

Nokomis had 16 shots, compared to Oceanside’s three. 

Alex Barstow had 10 saves in the goalie net for Oceanside, while Ashley Nyman had three for Nokomis.
