Oceanside, Erskine baseball combine for 37 runs in Friday showdown

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity baseball team hosted Erskine Academy on Friday, April 19 in its home opener contest that saw 37 runners score. 

By the end of the high-scoring affair, Erskine improved its record to 2-0 with a 23-14 victory over Oceanside, who fell to 0-2 on the season.  

Oceanside plated eight runs in the opening inning, two in the third and one in each the second, fifth, sixth and seventh frames. 

Erskine scored a pair of runs in the first inning, five in each the third and fourth innings, three in the fifth and eight in the seventh inning. 

At the plate, Erskine collected 18 hits and Oceanside collected 12. 

Both teams committed two errors in the field. 

Repeat hitters for Erskine Academy included Joe Clark (two singles, five runs, two RBIs), Nick Barbur (single, three-run home run, four runs, three RBIs), Lucas Anderson (three singles, three-run home run, three runs, six RBIs), Jackson Allen (three singles, two runs, two RBIs), Bryce Goff (two singles, double, run, RBI) and Sage Hapwood-Belanger (two singles, run, two RBIs). Nick Howard contributed a three-run home run, as well. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Johan Carlson (two singles, two runs, two RBIs), Cole Stevens (single, double, RBI) and Maguire LeBlanc (two singles, two runs, RBI). 

Oceanside will hit the road for its next game Monday, April 22 against Camden Hills at 4:30 p.m.
