Oceanside baseball collects first win of season over Mount View

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity baseball team collected its first victory of the season over Mount View at home Monday, May 6. 

With the 10-2 victory, the Mariners improved its record to 1-7, while Mount View dropped to 1-6. 

Oceanside will play Lincoln Academy at home Wednesday, May 8 for its next contest. 

Mount View will play Maine Central Institute at home Tuesday, May 7 for its next contest. 

Oceanside plated four runs in the opening inning, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth. 

Mount View tallied its pair of runs in the second frame. 

Oceanside collected 11 hits and committed five errors. 

Mount View collected 12 hits and committed five errors. 

Repeat hitters for Mount View included Logan Curtis (two singles, double), Damien Doughty (three singles), Draedyn Furrow (two singles, run, RBI). 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Zach Cody (two singles, three runs), Ben Ripley (three singles, two runs, RBI) and Caleb Powell (two singles, RBI). Jonah Carlson contributed three RBIs and Mguire LeBlanc contributed two. 

Working the mound for Oceanside were Nate Coombs (six innings, two unearned runs, 11 hits, seven strikeouts), Karl Illvonen and LeBlanc. 

Pitching for Mount View were Noah Jacobs, Theo Dodge and Brady Moulton.
