BUCKSPORT — The Oceanside varsity baseball team continued its season Friday, May 7 on the road against Bucksport (5-1). 

The visiting Mariners were blanked by the hosts 8-0 and watched its record slip to 1-5 on the season. 

Bucksport plated four runs in the second inning, one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. 

Oceanside tallied four hits, committed four errors and stranded five base runners. 

Bucksport recorded 12 hits, committed no errors and left 10 runners on base. 

Repeat hitters for Bucksport included Gavin Holyoke (two singles), Cam Rich (single, double) and Tyler Hallett (single, double). Ty Giberson also recorded a double. 

On the pitcher’s mound for Oceanside were Austin Chilles, Nathaniel Barnard, Will Eaton and Alex Bartlett. 

Giberson tossed a complete game for the hosts allow four hits, 12 strikeouts, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. 

The next contest for Oceanside will be a Saturday, May 8 road contest against Lincoln Academy in Newcastle at 3 p.m.
