Oceanside 8th girls edge Camden-Rockport in double OT semifinal

THOMASTON — The eighth grade girls basketball teams from Oceanside and Camden-Rockport met on the hardwood Thursday, Feb. 10 in Thomaston for a thrilling Busline League semifinal that went to double overtime. 

Oceanside held a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before Camden-Rockport possessed a slim 25-24 advantage heading into halftime.

After the third quarter, Camden-Rockport still maintained a lead, 38-36. The two teams ended regulation with 47 points each.

It took two overtimes to determine a winner but by game’s end Oceanside emerged narrowly victorious by a score of 59-58. 

Scoring for Oceanside were A. Poland (five points), G. Mackie (17), L. Fales (two), A. Stackpole (nine), K. Deebler (23) and A. Porter (five). 

Scoring for Camden-Rockport were M. Cronkite (11 points), L. Jhonson (six), H. Stowe (10), M. Stone (20) and M. Mayhorn (six). 

With the win, Oceanside advances to the league championship Feb. 12.
