CAMDEN – Merryspring Nature Center will host its annual Bug Safari as part of its Free Family Fridays series Friday, July 21 at 10 a.m.

While ants are the most plentiful insect, there are many other species to investigate.  During the Bug Safari, children and their families can learn about, find, and catch insects and other tiny creatures in Merryspring’s gardens. Darting dragonflies, buzzing bumblebees, fluttering butterflies, and busy beetles will all be on display during this program on a summer morning. A limited number of nets, bug cages, and guidebooks will be available for use.

Preregistration is necessary for this event, with limited space available. Guests may sign up by contacting Merryspring at 207-236-2239 or info@merryspring.org. Admission is free to all. All children must be accompanied by an adult. If you would like to use a phone app such as INaturalist or Seek, please download them ahead of time. While free, these apps may require a login.

This program is outdoors. Guests must wear weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and be prepared to walk for one hour. In the event of rain, this program will be canceled.

Free Family Fridays take place at Merryspring on select July and August Fridays at 10 a.m. and are sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.

Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round.
