My Grandmother’s Cooking: An Indian all-vegetarian dinner, talk at Penobscot School

    ROCKLAND — Dee Patel, Rockport resident and native of India, will prepare a dinner of all-vegetarian authentic Indian food, Thursday, Jan,16 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Penobscot Language School, in Rockland.

    In India, Patel began cooking as a teenager under the tutelage of her grandmother. Her passion for cooking expanded to the creation of her own recipes within the tradition and then to the very recent opening of Namaste in Rockport. She is eager to introduce vegetarian delights to persons who may not yet know the joys of ordinary vegetables and the wonderful spices of India, according to Penobscot School, in a news release.

    Patel will share her experience of coming to Maine, as well as her extensive knowledge of Indian spices and cooking.

    The public is welcome to this cultural and social evening, presented in English.
