ROCKLAND — On Sunday, Jan, 19 from 4 - 5:30 p.m., The Dancing Elephant will launch an 8-week Mindful Eating Group at 14 School Street, Rockland. This is a drop-in, donation-based group facilitated by Beverly Feldt and Amy Wappler.
Everyone is welcome.
The purpose of the group is to provide support on the path of mindful eating. Drawing wisdom from the book Mindful Eating: A Guide to Rediscovering a Healthy and Joyful Relationship with Food by Jan Chozen Bays, MD, participants will learn techniques to bring non-judgmental awareness, curiosity, and compassion to food choices and habits. Each gathering will include reading, guided meditations, and discussion. The environment is relaxed and friendly.
Beverly Feldt has studied in the Shambhala Buddhist and Zen Buddhist traditions since the 1980s. She is a retired clinical social worker. Amy Wappler is a former middle school teacher, an artist, and a gardener. She has been practicing meditation for several years and taught mindfulness in the classroom beginning in 2005.
The Dancing Elephant is a community center for yoga, meditation, and art located in downtown Rockland. All programs are donation-based and available for all levels.
