ROCKLAND — On Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., The Dancing Elephant will offer a Mindful Communication Workshop led by dharma teacher Peggy Smith.
The program is open to the public by donation. Preregistration is requested.
The day-long workshop will explore the Buddha’s teachings on mindfulness and Right Speech. Participants will learn tools of deep listening and compassionate speech to bring back into daily life. Nonviolent Communication techniques will be practiced as helpful strategies for manifesting the Buddha’s teachings.
The day will include sitting, walking, and eating meditation, as well as a talk about neuroscience and self-regulation.
Peggy Smith is an ordained Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village Tradition. She was ordained into the Order of Interbeing by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1994 and received a Lamp Transmission from him in 2014. Smith was a school teacher for 32 years and is a certified trainer of Nonviolent Communication.
The Dancing Elephant is a community center for yoga, meditation, and art located in downtown Rockland. All programs are donation-based and available for all levels.
