TENANTS HARBOR — Jackson Memorial Library, in Tenants Harbor, will host an exhibition entitled “Midcoast Maine en Plein Air” featuring Midcoast painters Carol  L. Douglas and Midge Coleman.

The show begins September 4 and runs through October 11, with a reception on Saturday, September 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Douglas, who has done a series of paired watercolor and oil paintings, each of the same subject, reflects that the medium she uses has a profound effect on how she approaches the painting. She believes plein air painting has led to countless people to love and care for the natural world.

Coleman, who works in oil, acrylic and pastels, finds inspiration in Maine’s wonderful light, and tries to capture on canvas the illusive truth of her subjects, and to bring to the viewer the emotion she feels when setting up her easel in nature, according to the Library, in a news release.
