Midcoast Field Epidemiologist talk: Being Outdoors with Ticks

Event has passed

It’s Lyme Disease Awareness Month, and Megan Kelley, Midcoast Field Epidemiologist for the Maine Center for Disease Control, will be speaking about being outside with ticks in a Zoom presentation on Wednesday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Some questions that will be addressed are: Why so many ticks? Where and what types of ticks are found in Maine? Do all ticks transmit diseases? What do I do if I get a tick bite?

As more people are going outside to gather socially to hike, birdwatch and explore, learning how to do it safely is essential, according to Friends of Maine Coastal Islands NWR, in a news release.
