CAMDEN — Gardener John Fromer will lead a presentation on fall perennial garden maintenance and preparing for winter on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
In this outdoor presentation, John Fromer will speak about how gardeners can best address the needs of the autumn garden. He will discuss pruning and transplanting methods, keeping peonies alive in winter, knowing which plants to cut back and which to leave, and making the most of one’s time in autumn to ensure a healthy spring garden.
Fromer has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion. He currently serves on the Merryspring board of trustees.
This program is part of the Summer Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by First National Bank.
This talk will take place in Merryspring’s Hexagon, with no pre-registration required. The cost of this program is $5, with free admission granted for Merryspring members.
