CAMDEN — Gardener Susan Shaw leads a presentation on growing roses in Maine, Tuesday, June 25, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
Rose Day at Merryspring celebrates the beauty and fragrance of roses. Old Garden varieties and new hybrids adorn the rose garden that Glenn Jenks created at Merryspring 30 years ago.
Susan Shaw leads this presentation on how to choose and grow roses in the Maine climate. She will offer her experience and hopes to answer questions for budding and experienced rose gardeners.
Shaw has grown, loved, and cared for more than a hundred roses since she was a child in her grandma’s rose garden. She is an accomplished gardener, and also serves on the Merryspring board of trustees.
This lecture is part of the Spring Talk series at Merryspring. Admission to Tuesday talks is $5, with free admission for members of Merryspring.
Merryspring is a community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round.
The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza.
