Merryspring to host workshop on seed-starting, garden planning
CAMDEN - Merryspring Nature Center will host a hands-on seed-starting and garden planning workshop on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This course will teach the basics of garden planning including garden sighting and placement, seed biology, selecting good seed varieties, and starting and propagating seeds indoors. Guests will plant two flats of selected flower and vegetable seeds for growing and transplanting at home.
Longtime Merryspring instructor and volunteer John Fromer teaches this class on everything gardeners need to know about getting ready for spring. He has been a Maine Master Gardener since 1998 and runs Appleton Ridge Flower and Vegetable Farm with his wife Kathy, also a Maine Master Gardener. Together they grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs in a sustainable and authentic fashion.
This program is the first of three weekend gardening workshops hosted at Merryspring this season, and part of the Weekend Workshop series. The cost of this class is $45 and includes all materials, with a discounted rate of $35 for Merryspring members. All participants must sign up by Tuesday, March 26.
