CAMDEN — Gardener Denise DeSpirito will give a tour of the herb garden at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, August 24, at 12 p.m.
The Herb Garden at Merryspring was the first garden planted at the Nature Center in the early 1980s. Today, it showcases over 100 useful herbs for cooking, dyeing, medicine, and more, according to Merryspring, in a news release. In this now annual tradition, Merryspring Garden Manager Denise DeSpirito will lead a tour of the Herb Garden and speak about some of its unique plants, new additions to the garden, and recent restoration efforts.
DeSpirito is a gardener and herbalist. She has grown herbs all over the Northeast, including Avena Botanicals in Rockport, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York, and Farmacy Herbs in Rhode Island.
She currently serves as Garden Manager at Merryspring.
