Merryspring free family program: Exploring Owl Pellets

Event has passed

CAMDEN — Merryspring Nature Center will host a free family program called “Exploring Owl Pellets” on Friday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m.

There are a number common owls seen in Maine. All of them are efficient hunters that leave behind pellets after eating. In this program families and children will learn about owl biology and behavior, and what species can be easily found in their own backyards. Following a short presentation, each child will be able to dissect an owl pellet and discover what the bird of prey ate for dinner.

To keep groups small during pandemic conditions, Free Family Fridays have limited space available and guests MUST pre-register for this program. Families can sign up by contacting Merryspring at info@merryspring.org or 207-236-2239.

This program is outdoors. Families must wear face masks and adhere to safe social distancing guidelines. In the event of rain, this program will be canceled.

Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round. The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza. For more information on this program, please contact info@merryspring.org or call 207-236-2239.
