Medomak Valley wrestling finishes fifth in Atlantic Invitational

WELLS — The Medomak Valley wrestling program traveled to Wells on Saturday, Dec. 21 to compete in the annual Atlantic Invitational. 

Placing for Medomak Valley were Riley Micklich (third), Tyler Cox (first), Erik Benner (first) and Jake Gess (first). 

As a team, the Panthers finished in fifth place with 84 points. 

126 pounds: Ian Doughty (Medomak Valley) pinned by Filip Nguyen (Lincoln Academy). 

138 pounds: Riley Micklich (Medomak Valley) pinned by Bradley Foster (Wells), pinned James Holly (York), pinned Isaiah Morin (Nokomis) and pinned Foster (Wells). 

145 pounds: Brady Carter (Medomak Valley) pinned by Eddie Plessinger (Fryeburg Academy) and pinned by Austin Bennett (York). 

152 pounds: Damien Henry (Medomak Valley) lost to Ethan Boyle (Marshwood), pinned Owen Macintosh (York) and pinned by Trevor Bickford (Wells). 

160 pounds: Nolan Grubb (Medomak Valley) pinned by Stefan Baciu (Nokomis) and pinned by Zander Trofatter (Wells). 

170 pounds: Tyler Cox (Medomak Valley) pinned Matt Brown (Mountain Valley), defeated Ben Johnson (Kennebunk) and won by default against Daniel Bolton (Lisbon/Oak Hill). 

182 pounds: Colby Hyde (Medomak Valley) pinned by Chase Nelson (Dirigo) and pinned by Ausche Edmond (Biddeford). 

195 pounds: Erik Benner (Medomak Valley) pinned Bryce Bussell (Maine Central Institute), defeated Trevor Fecko (Kennebunk) and defeated Jonah Potter (Wells). 

220 pounds: Jake Gess (Medomak Valley) pinned Connor McGarry (Kennebunk), pinned Seth Beyea (Biddeford) and pinned Ege Faydaci (Maine Central Institute).
