WALDOBORO — The Medomak Valley High School athletic department, in conjunction with the Medomak Valley All Sports Boosters, is proud to announce the third annual “Paws for the Cause” basketball game to benefit the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition.

The event will be held Friday, Jan. 17 at the high school when the Panthers host Oceanside and organizers anticipate a packed house for the doubleheader featuring the varsity girls game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity boys game at 7 p.m. as the Panthers hope to “Pink Out” the gymnasium.

For these special games, both of the Medomak Valley teams will be wearing unique, pink uniforms.

Additionally, commemorative t-shirts will be available for students and fans of both schools to purchase leading up to the game, and on the evening of the games as well.

In addition to t-shirt sales, other fundraising will be taking place prior to, and during the game as well as an opportunity to add a personalized Pink Paw to the wall for a $1 donation.

The evening’s 50/50 drawing and all other proceeds will go to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition, a volunteer based, non-profit organization, dedicated to making a difference in Maine people through advocacy, education, and financial support.

“We’d also like to thank our guests from Oceanside High School for participating in the night, and supporting our endeavor,” said athletic director Matt Lash in a press release.

“We’re excited to build upon the overwhelming success of our two previous events,” said Gayle Murphy, Boosters President. “We’ve raised $13,500.00 for Maine Breast Cancer coalition in front of near sell-out crowds over the past two years, and hope to continue to build upon that this year.”
