WISCASSET — The Medomak Middle School soccer teams traveled Monday, Sept. 16 to Wiscasset for a game controlled on the scoreboard by the visitors.

The game was played on a beautiful fall day with the sun behind the clouds and the temperature hovering around 65 degrees.

Girls Soccer: Medomak 10, Wiscasset 0

The scoring opened when Medomak’s Acadia Dinsmore found the back of the net four minutes into the contest.

Kaylee Kurr scored off an Alyssa Grindle pass to extend the lead to 2-0, before scoring unassisted to extend the advantage by three.

In the second half, Dinsmore scored rapidly once again as she put the Riverhawks up 4-0 only two minutes into the half.

Three minutes later, Sara Nelson scored the visiting team’s fifth goal of the night.

Eliza Luce netted Medomak’s sixth goal four minutes later, as well as the team’s seventh goal a mere two minutes later.

Nelson found the back of the net seven minutes later to push Medomak to an 8-0 advantage.

Grindle scored once again four minutes later before Haley Blake concluded the scoring two minutes later.

Haley Puchalski, Nelson, Kytana Williamson and Luce played great in the midfield distributing the ball and getting the front line the ball to score, according to Medomak coach Andrea Williamson.

Williamson noted the victory was the result of good passing and unselfishness for numerous players.

Boys Soccer: Medomak 7, Wiscasset 2

The scoring started when Medomak’s Vischal Mellor scored from just outside the six-yard box.

Slavick Moody added another goal for the visiting Panthers, which prompted Wiscasset to respond with a goal of its own on a breakaway to make it a 2-1 game.

In the second half, Medomak tightened up on defense, according to Medomak coach Jackson Fortin, with Issac Swain playing very physical at the front of the defense to keep the ball on the opponents side of the field. Backing up Swain, was Finn Kelly, Bruce Bossow, and Gavin White who played great defense.

On the offensive side of the ball in the second half, Medomak found its stride with Will Rush adding to two goals.

Kristian Schumann and Atticus Blue each contributed goals during the second half.

The game was capped off with a goal from Vischal off a direct kick taken by Bruce Bossow.

The offense was able to have this success in large part to the midfielders who aided in the attack, Fortin noted.

“Great passing by Zan Nyguen, Kolby Staples, Liam Belyea and Kaiden Sidelinger really helped in the second half,” Fortin said.

Kael Sidelinger and Sebastian Smith combined for seven saves in the goalie net.
