Medomak boys, girls middle school soccer top Searsport

SEARSPORT — The Medomak Middle School boys and girls soccer teams hit the road Wednesday, Sept. 19 to challenge Searsport. 

Both Riverhawk teams were able to secure road wins and now turn their attention to Monday, Sept. 24 home contests. The girls will host Boothbay at 3:45 p.m. while the boys will host Camden-Rockport White at 5 p.m.

Girls: Medomak 3, Searsport 1

With 7:20 off the clock in the opening half, Ana Underhill scored off a pass from Rachel Readinger to give the Riverhawks a 1-0 advantage. 

Three minutes later, Readinger found the back of the net off a pass from Eliza Luce to give Medomak a 2-0 advantage, which the guests carried into the halftime break. 

In the second half, Searsport scored 14 minutes into the second half. No name for the scorer was available. 

Medomak found the back of the net for a third time 20 minutes later when Jordan Doughty scored unassisted. 

“Great defense was played by Cindy Shelmerdine, Haley Puchalski, Olivia Pelkey, Sara Nelson and Quinn Overlock,” noted Medomak head coach Andrea Williamson. “Great hustle on offense goes to Skylah Ward, Ana Underhill, Rachel Readinger and Lizzy Stelle.”

Boys: Medomak 4, Searsport 1

Scoring for Medomak was Will Cheesman, Kayden Johnson, Blake Morrison, and Zan Nguyen off of a corner kick.

“Adding to the offensive success was Kolby Staples, Will Rush, and Finian Kelly finding space for open passes,” said Medomak head coach Jackson Fortin. “Gavin Clark stopped multiple shots on net and only allowed one score off of a penalty kick.. Strong defense was played by Finn Parmley, Issac Swain, Bruce Bossow, and Donovan Sidelinger.”
