WALDOBORO — The Maine Department of Transportation is extending the closure of Winslows Mills Road (Route 32) over Hoch Brook in Waldoboro after crews encountered problems with unexpected soil conditions while excavating for the culvert replacement project.

Construction work on the Wagner Number Two Bridge started on August 11 and had originally been scheduled for a 30-day closure. The project is now expected to keep Winslows Mills Road closed until mid-November as crews work through the required soil stabilization efforts.

Traffic will continue to be detoured through Waldoboro and Nobleboro.

The contractor on this project is Hagar Enterprises of Damariscotta. The contract amount is $1.1 million.

“MaineDOT thanks the members of the traveling public for their patience and understanding as we work with our contracting partners to complete this important project,” said MDOT.
