APPLETON — It is with deep sadness that our family says farewell to a son, a brother, a father, a cousin, an uncle and a friend. Mark J White of Appleton passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2019.

Mark moved into the area with his parents and older sister in 1996. Moving from the Mount Desert Island area where he grew up and made many friends, was very hard for both he and his sister. However, the entire family adjusted well to a community that as has always extended their arms to the family for many reasons over the years.

Mark loved the outdoors. Something his father, Thom, who spent many years serving his country for the U.S. Army, instilled in all of his children. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, but looking back on his childhood, he and his best childhood friend from Trenton, Heath O'Neil, spent many hours exploring the woods behind his home in Trenton.

He enjoyed cooking as well, a trait that both his mother, Patricia, and his Nana, Margaret, who are and were amazing cooks passed on to him.

Mark enjoyed time with his family but was mostly a one on one kind of guy. He loved his daughter, Cierra with all of his heart and strived every day to better himself to be a good father to her.

Mark and his sister, Tami-Lyn, cherished a very special relationship, were best friends, and shared many childhood memories. Growing up and going their separate ways never lessened that bond by any means and Tami-Lyn will always feel and be Mark's protector and “Big” sister until they can be together again.

Mark is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Thomas Patrick and Thomasina O'Shea White of New York and maternal grandparents, Margaret G Kress and Harry Riley of New York and Maine.

He is survived by his parents, Retired Lt. Col Thom J and Patricia Riley White from Appleton; his older sister, Tami-Lyn White Sears and partner, Chris Shoudy of Rockport; his daughter, Cierra O'Dell of Waldoboro and her mother and friend of Mark's, Nancy O'Dell of Warren; fiance, Tulia Lee of Appleton; “Brother-Friends” Heath O' Neil of MDI; Ken Weed, Jr., of Lincolnville; Ed Owen, of Searsmont; and Jay Sears of Rockport; nieces, Jarica D. Weed and her husband, Sam Cantlin of Lincolnville; Ashtyn Owen of Searsmont; and Lenigha Sears, of Rockport; cousins, Kellie and Peter Harrington, of Boston; Shawn and Barbara Riley, of Florida; step-siblings, T. Patrick White, Debbie and husband, Jayson LeBLanc, of New York, and many extended family members including “God Family” The Sotos, and friends from over the years.

There will be a private ceremony for Mark and his family in July during the 4th of July Holiday. Close family and friends will be invited to this.
