FREEDOM — Floyd E. "Manny" Raven Jr., 63, of Freedom, passed away Oct. 23, 2015, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, with many family members by his side. He was born Aug. 19, 1952, in Bath, the son of Floyd and Julia (Doughty) Raven Sr.

Manny attended Mt. View High School in Thorndike. He started his career with his father in concrete foundations, later taking over his business and continuing the family business with his son, Luke.

Manny was a avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing and cooking. He loved tending his garden and canning the vegetables from it for winter, as well as his pigs and chickens. Manny was known affectionately to his mother as her "little man." In his retirement he enjoyed reading, playing cards and watching MTV with his granddaughter, BreAnne.

He is predeceased by his spouse, Marguerite Raven in 2006; his father, Floyd Raven Sr. "the old man"; his brother-in-law, Fred Overlock; and his longtime friend, Dwight Hotham.

Manny is survived by his beloved mother, Julia Raven of Unity; his 10 loving children, Lucas Raven and Brandy Raven, both of Freedom, Joanna Hotham and her partner, Craig Lancaster, of Unity, Linda Gardner and her husband, Wayne, and Billy Hotham and his wife, Beth, all of Patten, Patricia Hotham of Waterville, Sam Hotham and his wife, Melinda, of Newburgh, Sarah Landry and her husband, Richard, Dawn Tower and her husband, Ervin, and Lana Tucker and her husband, Aaron, all of Patten; his siblings, Dee Overlock and family, June Raven and Mark Raven, all of Freedom, Karen Seehafer and her husband, Larry, of Wisconsin, Jean Jones and her husband, Scott, and their family, all of Freedom, and Shawn Raven and family of Knox; 19 grandchildren, Valorie, Keith, Bubs, Allison, Andy, Anthony, Brittany, Brandon, Aaron, Ryan, Amy, Shayla, Bradley, Jake, Ross, Chris, Shyanne, Dustin, CJ and BreAnne; his close nephew, Dakota; his lifelong friend, "like a son," Galen Neal Jr.; and several great-grandchildren.

Manny will be placed in a tomb he built with knowledge in his private family cemetery, next to his wife, in a casket built by his brother, Mark, with Manny's concrete forms that he used for all his years in business, on Saturday, Oct. 31 at noon, Raven Private Cemetery, 169 Raven Road in Freedom.
