ROCKLAND — A Westbrook man remains in jail after he was arrested during the early morning of Oct. 7 for allegedly assaulting a woman and damaging a hotel room in Camden.

Daniel W. Spooner Jr., 32, was charged by Camden police with criminal mischief, domestic violence assault and unlawful possession of drugs.

Spooner made his initial appearance before Judge Susan Sparaco in Knox County Unified Court Oct. 8. His bail was set at $2,500 cash and he remains at the Knox County Jail.

According to the affidavit filed in court by police, they first were notified after Spooner was allegedly making threats against people at a wedding in Camden the evening before his arrest. Guests reported Spooner was intoxicated and that he said “bullets were going to fly,” according to the affidavit.

Spooner agreed to return to his hotel room after the wedding. When the victim returned to the room to pack her belongings, he allegedly threw water on her, pushed her on a couch, knocked over a table, broke a lamp and put a hole in the wall.

He also allegedly struck the woman in the head with an open hand and threatened her and her family, according to the affidavit.

Camden police arrested Spooner and transported him to the Knox County Jail where corrections officers found a rolled dollar bill with white powder in his wallet, the report said. A suboxone wrapper was also identified.

After Spooner posts bail, he will be on supervised release and cannot have any contact with the victim or use or possess alcohol, drugs, and firearms.

Rockport police also assisted at the scene when Spooner was arrested Oct. 7 in Camden.

He will appear in court again Nov. 25 for a dispositional conference.
