‘Mamma Mia!’ comes to the Strom at Camden Hills Regional High School this November
Event has passed
Camden Hills Regional High School will be staging the musical production of Mamma Mia! to audiences this November.
After a resoundingly successful return to live performances last year, CHRHS will once again turn on the bright lights of Strom Auditorium and bring to life the story of Sophie, a young bride-to-be, who after secretly reading her mother’s diary, sets out to find her true father before her walk down the aisle.
Twists, turns, and romances develop in a plot that is sure to bring audiences lots of laughter and joy.
Paired with the hilarious story of Mamma Mia! are 22 smash hits from the 1970s band ABBA! Songs such as “Dancing Queen”, “Super Trouper”, and “The Winner Takes It All,” are guaranteed to get you humming in your seats.
Why Mamma Mia!?
Kailey Smith, director, said in a news release: “We knew the musical we chose this year needed to be energetic and fun, popular both with our students and with the community. We wanted a musical that would allow us to focus on the collaborative process with a wide variety of students, so we needed large ensemble numbers, dance numbers, as well as great opportunities for design and technical students. With these things in mind, our amazing production team made a spreadsheet of options, rated our top choices, and unanimously agreed on Mamma Mia! Some of the best moments of this process were the students’ enthusiastic reactions when we announced the show title, some joining the theatre department just to be a part of this musical!”
The CHRHS production of Mamma Mia! is directed by Kailey Smith, with musical direction by Drew Albert and Craig Ouellette and choreography by Gretchen Henderson.
Technical director Tom Heath leads the student production team with Freya Hurlbert as set designer, and Auren Teel as light designers. Jane Self continues her role of producer with assistance from student producer Ryan Southworth.
Performance dates are November 4, 5, 11, 12 at 7 p.m. and November 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. All seats are reserved for all performances.
