Maine Game Wardens investigate fatal ATV crash in Montville

    MONTVILLE — Game wardens are investigating a fatal ATV crash that occurred in Montville earlier today, Oct. 20.

    Rachel Curtis, age 30, of Montville, was a passenger on a Polaris Sportsman 850 ATV that was traveling on a dirt road in the Frye Mountain Wildlife Management Area, approximately one mile from the main road when the crash occurred just before noon today. She died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

    The Maine Warden Service is investigating the crash, and will work with the Waldo County District Attorney’s office to determine whether the ATV driver in the fatal crash will be charged, according to a news release from the Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

    Game Wardens were assisted by the Maine State Police and the Montville Fire Department at the scene of the crash.

    The Frye Mountain Wildlife Management area is owned and managed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and contains over 5,200 acres that is managed for wildlife and outdoor recreation.

    As the fatal crash remains under investigation, there is no other information available at this time.
