Maine AllCare's Waldo County chapter announces spring launch party
BELFAST — Maine AllCare's Waldo County Chapter announces its spring launch party for Saturday, May 12, 2018 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Belfast Boathouse. The party will begin with music and wine and cheese, followed by an entertaining few rounds of "Health Jeopardy," a game designed by chapter members to test local wits; the evening's finale will be the screening of a short movie on universal health care. There is no entrance fee to this event, though money will be accepted towards the organizational goals of Maine AllCare's statewide organization.
Founding physician of Maine AllCare, Phil Caper, refuting the notion that doctors oppose universal health care, says, "working to replace the profit-driven culture of health care delivery with an ethic of service to the public and the Hippocratic imperative of 'putting the patient first,' we could create a healthcare system that not only covers all Mainers, but does so for less than we are now spending."
Maine AllCare is a non-profit, non-partisan organization established in 2012 as a chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program, a non-profit research and education organization of 20,000 physicians, medical students and health professionals who support single-payer national health insurance.
