CAMDEN — Local singer, songwriter and guitarist Louisa Stancioff will present this year’s final SoundCheck concert Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm Street. Multi-instrumentalist and singer Edith Gawler will join her for the one-set contemporary folk show, sponsored by 40 Paper.

Louisa Stancioff last played the opera house singing lead in Dyado. Her songs tell stories based on personal experience, which she often embellishes with fictional narrative and magical elements.

“Her use of lofty reverbed-out electric guitar and occasional drum machine loop makes for a more contemporary take on the folk genre,” said the Opera House, in a news release. “Stancioff’s work, both solo and with Dyado, may be enjoyed on bandcamp.”

Belfast-based Gawler, member of the family band The Gawler Family, started playing music with Stancioff in 2020, and the two of them have since fallen in love with harmonizing and performing together, according to COH.

Tickets are $10, and advance purchase is encouraged via camdenoperahouse.com and 236-3154. The opera house’s choose-your-own ticketing software ensures every-other-row distancing, as well as a couple of seats either side of each party’s reservation, for comfortable spacing. Masks are required in the building.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. SoundCheck also is livestreamed on the COH Facebook page.

The Lúnasa Irish Christmas concert returns to the opera house stage Saturday, Dec. 18; tickets are $54 in advance, $64 day-of-show.

Castlebay will open the 2022 SoundCheck series Friday, Jan. 7, with their “Winter in New England” concert.
