Local trio ‘Gardenia’ to perform at Rockland Public Library
ROCKLAND — Local trio Gardenia will perform music from the Golden Age of Song in America in originally written arrangements in the Reading Room of the Rockland Public Library on Thursday, January 18 at 6:30 p.m. Gardenia is vocalist Cindy Millar, Shaun Bolduc on bass, and Dick White on guitar.
Cindy Millar is an all-around musician having been a member of numerous ensembles performing music of different types; Cindy is also a multi-instrumentalist playing both fiddle and mandolin, when performing Celtic genre music. Cindy has over the past 3 years developed her vocal skills and abilities in the jazz field becoming a regular member of the By the Bay ensemble and heading her own group - Gardenia, that performs music from the Golden Age in originally written arrangements.
Shaun Bolduc is a professional studio musician and a graduate of the University of Maine Contemporary Music Program. As a bass player he plays with numerous bands and ensembles in the Augusta and mid-coast regions. He brings to Gardenia a carefully crafted blend of jazz motifs as well as melodic harmonies for all of the songs performed. As a much sought after bass player, Shaun is the principle bass player in the By the Bay Trio as well as Gardenia.
Dick White has played in ensembles performing music from the Golden Age for the past 10 years; in Washington State he played in jazz, ragtime bands as well as trios. More recently in Maine he is currently a member and music archivist for By the Bay Trio and the Gardenia ensemble. Dick's musical focus for the past 3 years has been on the arrangement of songs considering both lyrics and melody together as they were originally written and performed.
