THOMASTON — Local dad Alan Leo, of Thomaston, received an early Father’s Day gift when he was named the 2019 Maine Haggar Hall of Fame Dad.

Leo, 65, a retired State of Maine Department of Public Safety employee, was nominated by his wife Barbara for the national contest sponsored by Haggar Clothing Co., the official jacket provider of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, according to a news release.

In her winning entry, Barbara wrote about Alan’s dedication to his two children, including his stepdaughter with special needs, who he has helped through life for 32 years. She wrote that not only are “they are the best of friends,” but that their daughter refers to him as “daddy-o.”

Alan, one of 50 state winners, will receive a Haggar wardrobe of dress and casual pants, a J.M. Haggar suit and a Hall of Fame Dad blazer.
