OWLS HEAD — Owls Head Library Garden Gathering Program talk by author and world traveler Linda Cortright: Around the World in 60 minutes (or less), on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m.

Join magazine editor, author, photographer and tour leader, Cortright as she shares highlights (and lowlights) from her years spent traveling the globe.

“Often hilarious, occasionally dangerous, Cortright’s stories have been entertaining readers for decades as she hunkers down with nomads in the High Himalayas and dubious VIPs in Afghanistan,” said Owls Head Village Library Association, in a news release. “It’s all in a day’s work.”

As editor and publisher of Wild Fibers Magazine, Linda Cortright has traveled to all seven continents, pursuing the role of natural fibers in remote and indigenous communities. Cortrights’ experience led her to serve on the Steering Committee of the International Year of Natural Fibres, a global initiative sponsored by the United Nations in Rome, and ongoing work with the IWTO (International Wool and Textile Association).

In 2015, Cortright opened The Pangong Craft Center, the first — and only — cashmere spinning and weaving center in the High Himalayas providing employment to more than 130 semi-nomadic women. Cortright has published two books on her travels. In addition to her writing, Cortright leads small group tours to some of her favorite destinations including both polar regions.

Attendance is free – donations encouraged and drop ins are welcome. In the case of inclement weather the program will be moved to summer 2023. Bring your own chair or blanket.
