LINCOLNVILLE — A committee in Lincolnville is asking town residents about their current access to the internet, and what sort of service they want.

Among goals set by the Lincolnville Board of Selectmen includes ensuring that affordable broadband is available to all residents.

According to the town, approximately 75 percent of Lincolnville homes have access to broadband internet service.

Broadband service is defined as a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. (Test your internet upload and download)

“In today’s ‘connected’ world, the remaining 25 percent are considered underserved or unserved (receive no broadband service or service less than 25 Mbps download or 3 Mbps upload),” the charge to the Broadband Committee states.

The committee’s purpose is to provide the selectmen with information regarding, “the pros, cons, options, and costs involved providing broadband service to unserved or underserved areas of town.”
