Lincoln Academy baseball slips past Oceanside in extra innings

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity baseball team hosted Lincoln Academy in a nail-biting contest at home Wednesday, May 8. 

The game, which went to extra innings, was won by Lincoln Academy 11-9 thanks to a RBI single by Sullivan Fink in the eighth frame and an Oceanside error. 

Lincoln Academy plated three runs in the second inning, two in the third, four in the fifth and two in the eighth frame. 

Oceanside tallied three in the third frame and sixth in the fourth. 

Lincoln Academy collected 13 hits and committed two errors. 

Oceanside tallied 13 hits and recorded five errors. 

Pacing the offense for Lincoln Academy were Tiger Cumming (two singles, three RBIs), Fink (single, RBI), Nathan True (single, double, RBI), Quincy Perry (two singles, RBI) and Nick Prior (two singles, RBI). 

Pacing the offense for Oceanside were Tim Mazzeo (two singles, RBI), Zach Cody (two singles, RBI), Ben Ripley (three singles, double, two RBIs) and Maguire LeBlanc (single, double, two RBIs). Jonah Carlson contributed three RBIs. 

With the loss, Oceanside slipped to 1-8 on the season. 

Oceanside will travel to Hermon for its next contest Thursday, May 9 at 4:30 p.m.
