Late rally pushes Belfast baseball past Lincoln Academy

BELFAST — With only three outs remaining in a Thursday, April 25 contest the Belfast varsity baseball team was down two runs against visiting Lincoln Academy. 

In the bottom of the final inning, the host Lions were able to push across five runs to secure a 5-2 victory. 

With the win, the Lions improved its record to 2-0 and are set to challenge Mount View on Friday, April 26 at 4 p.m. in Thorndike. 

Lincoln Academy plated one run in each the first and sixth innings. 

Both teams tallied six hits. Lincoln Academy committed two errors, while Belfast committed one. 

Working the mound for Belfast was C. Kelley, who fanned eight batters. 

Among those spending time on mound for Lincoln Academy were Sullivan Fink (4.0 innings, five strikeouts) and Tiger Cumming (1.2 innings, one strikeout). 

Leading the offensive charge for Belfast were Jason Bartlett (two hits, two RBIs) and Dylan Abbott (three RBIs).
