It’s not the Lobster Jam, but six girls high school basketball teams will compete in the Boothbay Lady Seahawks’ summer tournament. Boothbay is hosting five teams on July 29 and 30 at Porter Memorial Gymnasium. This year’s competitors are Cheverus, Brunswick, Lincoln Academy, Camden Hills, Kennebunk and Boothbay. Each team is scheduled to compete in action which includes round robin play and a single-elimination tournament.
On July 29, Cheverus and Kennebunk begin round robin play at noon followed by Boothbay and Camden at 1:30 p.m. Brunswick and Lincoln Academy play at 3 p.m. The Dragons have a quick turnaround as they play Cheverus at 6 p.m. The first session ends with Boothbay and Lincoln Academy.
On July 30, the teams will be seeded with the top two teams receiving a bye in the playoffs. At 9:30 a.m., No. 3 plays No. 6 followed by No. 4 against No. 5 at 11 a.m. Prior to the semifinal round, there will be a skills competition at 12:30 p.m. and three-point shooting contest at 1:30 p.m. Semifinal action begins at 1:30 p.m. with the No. 1 seed facing the lowest remaining team followed by No. 2 facing the second lowest remaining seed. At 5:30 p.m., the championship game is held.
