Knox County Food Council presentation: Ken Morse, Maine Food Policy Workgroup

Event has passed

The Knox County Food Council (KCFC) is hosting a presentation by Ken Morse, coordinator for the Maine Food Policy Workgroup and a long-time advocate for healthy foods in Maine, regarding recent legislative bills in Maine around local foods and equity. An open discussion about this, with opportunities to ask questions, will occur at the next KCFC monthly meeting, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 5 p.m. This virtual Zoom event is open to everyone and free of charge.

Morse will be sharing some of the challenges and successes of the recently-ended 130th Maine Legislature and relevant federal policy; touching on equity efforts in Maine legislation, particularly around tribal sovereignty; and speaking in greater detail about recent legislative decisions impacting food security, climate change and aquaculture. He will also be sharing information and suggestions about what people can do to take action or contribute to positive change in the food systems across the state.

Morse is a member of the Lead Team for the Maine Network of Community Food Councils, and has served as a coordinator for the Maine Farm to School Network, a member of Farm to Institution New England’s Leadership Team, and a member of the Leadership Team for Maine Farm to Institution.
