    Eben Wight, 23, of St. George, gross sexual assault in Camden March 13, 2019, dismissed; unlawful sexual touching in Camden March 13, 2019, 72 hours in jail, probation one year.

    Wight was arrested May 31, 2019, and charged with gross sexual assault for having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student. He pleaded guilty to gross sexual assault at a hearing Sept. 19, 2019. The state and the attorney for the former student teacher reached a plea agreement as part of a deferred disposition that stipulates the felony charge will be dismissed and Wight will be charged with misdemeanor sexual touching if he follows the terms of the agreement for the next 12 months.

    If Wight meets the terms, he will be sentenced to 364 days in jail with all but 90 days suspended, the maximum sentence. Wight’s attorney will be able to argue for less or no jail time at his sentencing hearing in September 2020.

    Terms of the agreement include that Wight is ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and a report must be received in the district attorney’s office within 60 days from the date of the hearing.

    He must also perform 100 hours of community service, cannot be on any school property, including CHRS, except to attend events for his family as long as he is accompanied by a parent or grandparent, and have no contact with children under 19, except his own family members, and while in class with students at college.

    Additionally, Wight is not to have any contact with the victim or her family and must comply with sex offender counseling.

    Andrew J. Willis, 28, of Waldoboro, operating under the influence (alcohol), one prior, in Rockland Nov. 24, 2019, $700 fine, 180 days in jail with all but 10 day suspended, probation one year, license suspended three years, registration suspended.
