According to the court affidavit, he was charged by the State Fire Marshal's Office in August 2018 in connection with the fire that burned down a camp in Warren in April 2018.

Sawyer and two teenage boys, ages 14 and 17, went to the property in the early morning hours of April 6, 2018, and set the camp on fire because they were ‘bored,’ according to investigators.

The owner of the seasonal camp is George Gibson, of Stoughton, Massachusetts. The camp was located on the Clements Point Road, which is along the St. George's River. It had been owned by the Gibson family for years before being destroyed by the fire which almost completely burned to the basement.

At the time of his arrest for arson, Sawyer was being held at the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset on unrelated burglary charges.

The sheriff offices in Lincoln and Knox counties assisted in the investigation, according to Fire Marshals.

The terrorizing conviction resulted from Sawyer’s arrest by Rockland Police for making threats against Oceanside High School on social media in March 2018.
