    ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from Jan. 14-18.

    Phillip Arsenault, 35, of Cushing, domestic violence assault, priors, in Cushing Nov. 25, three years in jail with all but 30 days suspended, probation three years; violating condition of release in Cushing Nov. 25, 30 days in jail; tampering with witness, informant, juror or victim, dismissed; tampering with witness, informant, juror or victim in Hope Nov. 26, 30 days in jail.

    Ashley Rae Benner, 35, of Thomaston, unlawful possession of scheduled drug in Rockland July 27, $400 fine, $400 fine suspended; unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs in Rockland July 19, $400 fine, five years in jail with all but nine months and one day suspended, probation one year; falsifying physical evidence in Rockland Oct. 22, 30 days in jail; violating condition of release in Rockland Oct. 22, 30 days in jail; trafficking in prison contraband in Rockland Nov. 6, three months in jail; unlawful possession of scheduled drug in Rockland Nov. 6, $400 fine, $400 fine suspended.

    Benner was charged Nov. 6 with selling methylphenidate (Ritalin) pills to a confidential police informant from an incident that occurred in Thomaston Sept. 19.

    According to the affidavit filed by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in Knox County Unified Court, a confidential informant told a MDEA agent that he could purchase Ritalin from Benner at $20 per pill. Police gave the informant the money to purchase the pills.

    On Sept. 19, Benner sold three pills to the informant for $60 in the parking lot of Montpelier in Thomaston, police said.

    Benner was interviewed by the MDEA Oct. 6 and during the meeting, she said that she was an addict, but denied selling the drugs, according to the affidavit.

    The charge of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs was elevated to a Class A crime since she had a previous conviction for stealing drugs in 2016 in Knox County Unified Court.

    Benner was also charged with illegal possession of scheduled drugs and trafficking in prison contraband when she was searched and found with drugs at the Knox County Jail after her arrest Nov. 6, police said.

    Randall Blasius, 27, of Friendship, negotiating a worthless instrument in Friendship Oct. 17, 14 days in jail; restitution $539.95; violating condition of release in Friendship Oct. 17, 14 days in jail; failing to report in Rockland Jan. 1, 2019, 14 days in jail.

    Susan E. Dellaripa, 37, of Mechanicsville, Va., operating under the influence (drugs or combination), dismissed; driving to endanger in Rockland Sept. 5, 2017, $1000, license suspended 30 days.

    Christine M. Demeritt, 52, of Warren, failure to register vehicle, dismissed.

    Hildy Ellis, 67, of Camden, operating while license suspended or revoked, dismissed.

    Michael A. Hunt, 53, of Stroudsburg, Pa., operating under the influence (alcohol) in Camden June 9, $750 fine, license suspended 150 days.

    Brandon M. Luzzi, 62, of Rockland, guilty of terrorizing (misdemeanor); terrorizing (felony charge), dismissed.

    The state and an attorney for Luzzi who was charged last year with terrorizing, which caused a lockdown in Rockland area schools (Regional School Unit 13), reached an agreement where the charge will be dismissed.

    Luzzi appeared in Knox County Unified Court before Justice Bruce Mallonee Jan. 16. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of terrorizing. The initial felony charge of terrorizing was dismissed.

    The deferred disposition agreement stipulates that the terrorizing misdemeanor charge will be dropped in six months if Luzzi continues with his mental health treatment and complies with conditions, including taking all his prescribed medications and not possessing any firearms.

    On May 29, Rockland police received a call from a woman, who is a friend of Luzzi’s, who said that he had told her he heard voices telling him to do a school shooting, according to the police affidavit filed in court.

    It was reported that Luzzi had access to guns since he was a hunter.

    At the time of the threat, Luzzi was living near the South School in Rockland and police later seized multiple firearms, including ammunition, from his apartment, according to the court document.

    He was taken into custody by Rockland police and taken to Pen Bay Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation and has been continuing treatment at another facility.
