Knox County Criminal Docket closed cases

    ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from April 17-20.

    Tyler Adkins, 26, of Warren, theft by unauthorized use of property, 48 hours in jail; criminal mischief, 48 hours in jail.

    Michael S. Beardsley, 33, of Union, aggravated assault, dismissed; domestic violence terrorizing, dismissed; terrorizing, dismissed.

    Andrew S. Belcher, 43, of Hope, hunting deer after having killed one, $1000 fine; hunting from stand or blind overlooking deer bait, dismissed.

    Kaela Bennett, 24, of Rockland, unlawful possession of scheduled drug, dismissed.

    Freedom Hamlin, 37, of Rockland, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, three counts, dismissed; unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine; unlawful furnishing scheduled drug.

    Alexander Lane, 27, of Rome, failure to appear after bailed, 90 days in jail; violating condition of release, 90 days in jail; theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, three years in jail with all but one year suspended, probation three years, restitution $18,447.80. 

    Lane was arrested with his mother, Tara Bellavance, 43, also of Rome, on Dec. 4, 2017. According to the affidavit filed in court by Maine State Police, he was arrested for stealing the guns from a Rockport home. The guns were a Wesley Richards 12-gauge, side-by-side shotgun valued at more than $25,000 more than 40 years ago and a Parker side-by-side 20-gauge shotgun, valued at $20,000.

    Lane’s arrest for the thefts of the guns in Rockport followed an investigation by state police of other guns stolen in Rome, according to police. The owner of the guns in Rockport told police that he was unaware that they had been stolen. Police said that the guns were pawned at Coastal Trading and Pawn in Auburn and then were resold to other parties.

    Rockport Sgt. Jim Moore also assisted with the investigation.

    Barbara A. Miller, 56, of Warren, operating under the influence (alcohol), $500 fine, license suspended 150 days.

    Jason Randall, 37, of Rockland, operating vehicle after habitual offender revocation, dismissed; operating vehicle without license-conditions/restrictions, dismissed; violating condition of release, 14 days in jail; operating while license suspended or revoked, $250 fine, 14 days in jail.

    Jillian Richards, 28, of Waldoboro, probation violation for original conviction of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, two counts, priors, 17 months in jail, probation revoked.

    Brandon M. Robinson, 27, of Augusta, operating under the influence (alcohol)-no test, one prior, $700 fine, 180 days in jail with all but 12 days suspended, probation one year, license suspended three years, registration suspended; operating while license suspended or revoked, dismissed; failing to give correct name, address or date of birth, seven days in jail.

    Dustin Upham, 21, of Warren, operating under the influence (alcohol), $500 fine, 72 hours in jail.                                                                

    Tyler A. Vangel, 24, of Lincolnville, probation violation for original conviction of domestic violence assault, 364 days in prison, all suspended, probation two years.

    The original conviction for the probation violation involved an incident on July 12, 2016, at approximately 4 p.m. when Knox County Deputies were called to the Maritime Farms gas station on Route 17 in Union for a domestic violence incident.

    The victim, who appeared upset, was crying and had bruises on her face, a nose that was swollen and black and blue, and a cut on her right hand. She asked a witness at the gas station to call police for help, according to the police affidavit filed in Knox County Unified Court. 

    According to a witness report, Vangel got back in the car with the victim and drove off before police arrived. Another witness followed the vehicle and was able to direct police to its location near the Union Common, where Sgt. John Palmer made contact with Vangel, according to the court document.

    Vangel was arrested at the scene by Palmer. He told police that the victim had been attacked by another girl. Police noted that Vangel's shirt was covered in the victim's blood, but he said it was his own blood, according to the court document. 

    When police interviewed the victim, she said that they were arguing in the car and she told him she wanted to end their relationship. Vangel allegedly punched her several times in the face with a closed fist. She said that he was allegedly driving more than 90 miles per hour and threatened to drive the car into a tree. The victim said "she was in fear for her life."

    Chesley Z. Williams, 28, of Hope, domestic violence criminal threatening, priors domestic violence, three counts, five years in jail with all but 14 months suspended, probation two years; criminal mischief, six months in jail; cruelty to animals, six months in jail.

    According to an affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the victim reported  that Williams threatened to hit her and caused damage in the home including breaking a door, punching a hole in the wall, and slamming a knife into the kitchen counter top.

    The victim also stated that he had thrown the cats against the wall on multiple occasions and beat the family dog in front of children. Williams threatened to kill the animals, according to the affidavit.

    John Williams 50, of Rockland, operating under the influence (alcohol), $500 fine, 72 hours in jail, license suspended 150 days; operating while license suspended or revoked, $500 fine.

    Bridgett Young, 43, of Morrill, failure to register vehicle, $100 fine.
