Wed, 04/15/2020 - 11:15am

“In an abundance of caution for the safety of both our staff and citizens, the Knox County Courthouse and Administration Building will be closed to the public for an additional thirty (30) days, through Friday, May 15, 2020.  Please be assured that all essential services, such E-911 Dispatch, the Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, and the Jail will continue without interruption,” said Knox County Administrator Andrew Hart, in an April 15 news release.

“In addition, most of the basic probate, district attorney, deeds, finance, and administrative services will still be provided by telephone and email, and staff will continue to be available to assist you via those methods during regular business hours.  There are also drop boxes located in the Courthouse entry vestibule if you need to leave any documents.

“Please note that this announcement does not include the State-run District and Superior Courts or the Clerks of Courts Office.  The Courts and Clerk of Courts Office are still operating with reduced hours, open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from Noon to 4 p.m. (closed on Wednesdays and Fridays).

“Please consult our website  www.knoxcountymaine.gov for information specific to each department.  You may also call (207) 594-0420 to be directed to the appropriate party, obtain more information, or to speak with the County Administrator, Andrew Hart.”
